Jireh (My Provider)
Blazing Christian radio stations everywhere is ‘Jireh (My Provider)’ by Limoblaze, Lecrae and Happi. This fire track builds on a sample of the Maverick City Music’s multi-award winning ‘Jireh’. The producer, Happi, develops the instrumentals with a beautiful blend of Hip-Hop and R’n’B drums infused with the afrobeat conga, giving the song a unique and diverse sonic foundation.
Limoblaze ‘paints a picture’ for us ‘of a God’ who lavishly loves us. He takes us through his personal journey of faith in God’s ability to provide all our needs and refers to God as ‘Daddy’. In his usual gifted nature, Limoblaze undoubtedly brings the afrobeat vibe to the vocal element of the song.
Lecrae adds to the Hip-Hop elements of the track, rapping about God’s provision of peace, purpose and deliverance. In expressing God’s position as our deliverer, Lecrae draws on metaphors and imagery linking to biblical examples from the book of Daniel. He raps about being delivered from the pit and the fire (i.e. the lions den and the hebrew boys..?) and follows with a line about God being the light to our path. The wordplay here is subtle but for the listening poet, there may be some triple entendres and other lyrical gems in there for you.
For the rest of us its beautiful, pewrified music to dance, vibe and worship God to.
Lets gooooo!
